Effective Altruism is a project that aims to find the best ways to help others and put them into practice. It functions as both a research field identifying the world's most pressing problems and their best solutions, and a practical community implementing those findings. The approach matters because some interventions are up to 1,000 times more effective than others with the same resources, meaning careful analysis can vastly increase our impact on global problems.
Formalized by Oxford University scholars, Effective Altruism has spread to tens of thousands of people across the globe. Projects include distributing 200 million malaria nets, conducting AI safety research, and advocating for pandemic prevention policies.
The movement isn't united by specific solutions but by a shared methodology: finding unusually high-impact ways to help and maximizing the good achieved per unit of effort. This thinking framework allows diverse approaches while maintaining focus on measurable effectiveness.
And the best thing: you get to meet kind and inspiring people doing the same.

Groups & Meetups
Monthly Community Meetup
This meetup is a good place for newcomers and usually happens on the first Tuesday of the month. Sometimes there is a speaker or specific topic, and it’s open for everyone!
We meet at the EA coworking space TEAMWORK in Wedding.
Food for Thought
A series of events, where to discuss philosophical and practical questions of EA in small groups over food and drinks: Exploring Effective Altruism one bite at a time.
We either meet in a bar or in one of Berlin's parks.
Effective Animal Advocacy
A monthly gathering for people who care about helping animals, and want to think deeply about how to do so most effectively. Whether you're active in the movement or simply curious, this is a space for open, reflective conversations and meaningful connections.
AI Safety Berlin
AI Safety Berlin is an independent network of Berliners working in research, policy and field building to ensure that future AI systems are safe and beneficial for all.
They organize regular talks & meetups, occasional hackathons, conferences, and retreats.
University Group
This group explores how to make meaningful contributions to the world while navigating career choices and identifying pressing global problems. They offer a space for both new and existing members to engage in substantive discussions and connect with others who share these concerns, welcoming not just students but also university staff and those involved with student communities.
